Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of...... Carbon Dioxide????
I was reading 5000 Year Leap recently, and I came across some quotes and information that gave me a new and sudden realization concerning the whole "Green" movement and "Global Warming".
In The 5000 Year Leap the author states " Every unconstitutional action has usually been justified because it was "for a good cause". Every illegal transfer of power from one department to another has been excused as "necessary"". How true that is! And there is no better example than the whole "Green" movement philosophy. How can any one logically argue against it without being considered a "nature hater"? We all NEED nature to survive, so we all MUST be green! Therefore, all of this "green" legislation (ie. Cap and Trade, Carbon Credits etc.) are for a "good reason" and are "necessary" to protect Mother Nature from the ravages of evil man-kind!
So, with that in mind, has it occurred to you that it is rather strange that various governments around the globe absolutely INSIST on continuing with Global Warming / Green initiatives even though their economies are tanking, and they have no money for investing in "Green" technology? It's all about power - we are witnessing the biggest political power grab in recorded history, and yet many of us will never see it as such.
So now you may be asking "But what does all this Global Warming / Green movement stuff have to do with a power grab of historic proportions?" It's all about property. According to the 5000 Year Leap, "The founding Fathers said we should especially concentrate on the preservation of one particular right because all the other rights are related to it" - and that right is the Right To Property. The right to Property is intrinsically bound to the other basic rights of Life and Liberty. "To give a man his life but deny him his liberty, is to take from him all that makes his life worth living. To give him his liberty but take from him the property which is the fruit and badge of his liberty, is to still leave him a slave.".
A definition of property is: "That which is a result of your labors". So, in that aspect, it could be said that your exhaled breath is your property since it is a product of your labor. Since your breath is primarily composed of carbon dioxide, and since carbon dioxide has been deemed to be a pollutant, that makes your very breath both illegal and potentially under the control of government regulation! Anything under government control either is, or can be, taxed. Is it far fetched to assume that government would have the audacity to tax your breath? Answer: It already is.
Carbon Credits and Cap And Trade are the vehicles through which your breath is being taxed. When a company fails to meet government standards for "carbon emissions" they have to purchase Carbon Credits to offset the difference. The cost of the carbon credits is passed down to the consumer thus increasing the price of products you purchase. So every time you purchase something produced by a company in violation of carbon emission standards you are paying for the tax levied upon carbon by government.
Global Warming and the "Green" movement are also going to be responsible for global income re-distribution. Consider for a moment the likelihood that most
businesses that can afford carbon credits will be coming from the industrialized "Western" economies, and that carbon credit excesses will be generated by non-industrialized nations. The "rich" western businesses will have to pay for carbon credits, and the credits will be sold by businesses in non-industrialized nations. The net effect will be monstrous income re-distribution on a global scale where money extracted from "more fortunate" western economies and will be given to "less fortunate" non-western economies - and all of this will be brokered via government. Who will be the big winner in this shell game? Who will be the losers? Initially, the "more fortunate" nations will be forced to "sacrifice" their standards of living in order to "save the Earth", the "less fortunate" nations will receive a handout (Did they have to buy the carbon they aren't emitting?), and the government gets to control it all. What happens when things start to equal out? What will happen when the "more fortunate" nations are no longer rich and the "less fortunate" nations are no longer poor? At that point, the focus will have to change - and my guess is that the focus will change from wasteful nations and businesses, to wasteful states and cities - and finally all the way down to the individual level.
Can you imagine living in a world where you are taxed or penalized for every move you make that isn't in conformity with "Green" rules and laws? First they control your fuel (already being done). Then they control what you drive (already being done to some degree. Evil SUV's!). Next they tell you how to heat and cool your home, what temperatures are "acceptable" (Look up "Smart Grid" - it's coming soon to a neighborhood near you), and what type of lighting is acceptable (Can you say Eco-friendly fluorescent light bulbs?) .
They then realize that your choice of food can have an impact on carbon emissions - so they start telling you what to eat. (You know - cow farts are BAD for the environment! I am guessing they will completely BAN the consumption of brussel sprouts by humans for the same reason). Eventually, when all other avenues of taxation and control have been exhausted, they may even decide to tax the gases you exhale with each breath - after all - it's mostly carbon dioxide. And finally, as a last insult to each individual, they will tax your body when it dies because it will emit methane and other carbon rich gases as it decomposes. From cradle to grave - we will be controlled by "green", and the great power grab will have fulfilled it purpose: To bring us all to the same level under the loving care of our Socialist government.
But not to worry! It's all for the common good!
